Maksudjon Safarov is a Senior Energy Specialist of the World Bank based in the Central Asia Regional Office in Almaty. Maksud has more than 10 years of experience in energy and infrastructure, having worked on areas such as energy market reforms, policy, regulatory and institutional development, sector planning, decarbonization and clean energy transition, energy efficiency, utility transformation, private sector participation, subsidy reforms, energy economics and finance. Since joining the World Bank, Maksud has been working on Uzbekistan,  Kyrgyz Republic Kazakhstan and Tajikistan programs, including through preparation and implementation of several strategic investment projects, technical assistance activities and energy sector reform initiatives.

Prior to the Bank, Maksud served at the Government of Uzbekistan for 11 years. He has a master’s degree in economics and finance from Tashkent Finance Institute, as well as several postgraduate studies and courses in European countries.
