Daniel’s professional career has been closely associated with EP Group. He is its founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO. His key professional specialization is the energy sector, with a particular focus on Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH), where he has been involved since its founding and serves as its majority shareholder and Chairman of the Board.
EP Group is one of the leading private industrial groups in Europe, originally built on energy and infrastructure and later diversified into other sectors including food wholesale, food and other consumer retail, logistics, media and e‑commerce. Across the EU and the UK, EP Group operates vital energy and infrastructure assets as well as postal and delivery services across extensive networks, and is a leading international wholesaler operating in more than 30 countries. Key entities within the group include Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH), EP Energy Transition, Metro AG, and International Distribution Services Plc (comprising the Royal Mail Group and GLS).
Daniel also holds a majority stake in EP Equity Investment (EPEI), an investment group focusing on strategic long‑term investments in publicly traded companies across Western Europe and the United States. EP Equity Investment concentrates on sectors where it can match structural growth opportunities with its specific expertise and experience, in particular in food wholesale, food and other consumer retail, logistics, media, and e‑commerce. The EPEI portfolio includes, among others, stakes in J. Sainsbury, PostNL, French retailer Casino and U.S. retailer Foot Locker. The current market value of the portfolio owned by EP Equity Investment exceeds €2bn.
Daniel is also a major shareholder and Chairman of the Board of the football club AC Sparta Prague and holds a stake in the English club West Ham United F.C.
Daniel graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno, the Czech Republic, and in 1999 also obtained a doctoral degree there. In 1997, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Philosophy of Masaryk University in Brno (political science).
