The 23rd ERRA Annual Conference takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia on April 27-28, 2026 and will mark the 25th Anniversary of ERRA.

The ERRA Annual Conference brings together national energy regulators, utility leaders, investors, top-tier consultants, and academics for high-level dialogue on the evolving landscape of energy markets. The event fosters strategic discussions and regulatory insights that help shape the future of the sector.

AGENDA OUTLINE
Session I: TRANSFORMING ENERGY DEMAND
AI and data centers, electro-mobility and charging stations, smart metering and prosumers, demand flexibility and energy efficiency.
Session II/a:
TRANSFORMING ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND STORAGE
Renewable integration and storage regulation, decarbonization pathways, capacity mechanisms, remuneration of nuclear and its co-existence with renewables.
Session II/b: PRICE AND NON-PRICE REGULATION IN THE GAS SECTOR IN LIGHT OF GEOPOLITICAL CHANGES IN EUROPE
Key factors influencing the price level of gas transmission, distribution, and storage. Price regulation of gas supply for vulnerable customers. Focus on increased education of gas customers, and the efficient use of supplied gas.
Session III/a:
TRANSFORMING SYSTEM OPERATION

Blackout and security in the era of renewable, balancing challenges incl. cross-border platforms, ancillary services and close to real-time markets.
Session III/b: GAS TRADING AND TRANSMISSION IN CENTRAL EUROPE: IS THERE A CASE FOR ESTABLISHING GAS HUB(S)?
Discussions about the necessary conditions for establishing gas hubs.
Session IV/a: TRANSFORMING TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS
Infrastructure investment, smart grids and digitalization, network tariff structures, and incentive regulation.
Session IV/b: REGULATORY ISSUES OF NUCLEAR RENAISSANCE
Remuneration of new nuclear: market-based, RAB-model, other? Large nuclear and SMR/AMR, «coal to nuke», behind-the-meter solutions for Energy Intensive Users.
Session V: TRANSFORMING RETAIL SUPPLY & CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT
Market liberalization vs regulated prices, household price regimes and subsidies, vulnerable customer protection, active customer engagement (including energy community).
Session VI: REGULATORY INDEPENDENCE & GOVERNANCE CHALLENGES
Independence frameworks, strategic plans and accountability mechanisms, multisector regulation, and enforcement powers (including market monitoring).
