Kosovo* presents an attractive legal and regulatory framework for energy investment, characterized by stress-tested regulations, independent regulator and untapped renewable potential with favorable geographical conditions. Given that Kosovo* is highly dependent on coal, the Government has set ambitious goals to secure a 35% share of its energy generation from renewable sources by 2031 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Kosovo* recently completed its 100 MW solar auction, a significant step towards a 35% RES target and carbon neutrality. A predictable regulatory framework and a transparent and inclusive bidding process attracted a high number of participants, reducing the bid price over consecutive sessions towards the winning bid of 48.88 EUR/MWh. The difference between the best five bids was 1.01 EUR/MWh.
