Smart Grid in the Danube Region Countries

This paper first discusses the concept of smart grids and smart meters in the context of competition,
sustainability, system security and the additional services smart metering can offer. The role of smart grids and metering is assessed in reaching the above mentioned goals and a number of performance indicators are identified.
