Since 14 January 2021, Mr. Renatas Pocius has been appointed by the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania as Chairman of the National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) for a five-year term of office. In his current role, Mr. Pocius is responsible for coordinating regulatory issues in the energy, water, and waste management sectors, and is actively involved in various international formats, such as ACER, CEER, ERRA, WAREG, and OECD.

Mr. Pocius has an extensive background in the energy sector, having worked at the Lithuanian national energy regulatory authority (NRA) for more than twenty years in various positions (the National Commission for Energy Control and Prices (NCC) from 2001 to 2018, and subsequently as a member of the Board and currently as Chairman of the NERC). During his tenure at the NCC, Mr. Pocius held the position of Director of the Gas and Electricity Department, where he supervised and regulated natural monopolies in the gas and electricity sectors. He also played a key role in transposing EU energy legislation into Lithuanian law, including the EU's 3rd Energy Package.
