According to the Government’s resolution, a 700 MW wind farm will be developed on the area of 15 hectares in the Baltic Sea. It is estimated that the installation will be able to produce up to 3 TWh of electricity per year, which would ensure up to a quarter of Lithuania's electricity demand.

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania held the competition for a feasibility study on hydrological and meteorological conditions for the future wind farm. The selected candidate is the Spanish company EOLOS Floating Lidar Solutions.

The awarded company will have to determine all elements of marine environment such as wind speed and direction characteristics, humidity, atmospheric pressure, etc., which will allow for a selection of the most appropriate turbine models to maximize the benefits.

The results of the study are expected to be published by mid-to-end 2023.
