Martin Cave has been Chair of Great Britain’s energy regulator – Ofgem – since 2018. An economist by training, he has been involved in regulation of network industries for many years. He has held professorial positions at Warwick Business School and the London School of Economics, where he is now a visiting professor. From 2012 to 2018 he chaired inquiries at the UK Competition and Markets Authority.
He is the co-author of several books in the regulation field, including Understanding Regulation (2012) and Taming the Corporation (2021). He has advised regulators and governments in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australasia, and Europe, and he undertook independent sectoral regulatory reviews for UK Governments in the fields of airports, energy, social housing, spectrum management and water.
