Rashdan has over 32 years of corporate experience; in the corporate finance, investment and financial services industry. Prior to joining the Energy Commission, Rashdan was the Deputy Group Managing Director and Group Chief Investment Officer of Gamuda Berhad, Malaysia’s largest multi-national construction and engineering firm with substantial order books in Australia, Taiwan and Singapore. He was with Gamuda from May 2018 to June 2023.
From 2010 to 2012, he served as the Executive Director (Investments) of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund) and as the Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and Managing Director of BinaFikir Sdn Bhd from 2003 to 2008 and was the founder and Managing Director of QuantePhi Sdn Bhd, a boutique corporate finance advisory firm from 2012 to December 2017.
Rashdan holds a double-first class honours degree (Master of Arts) in Economics from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) London (1992 – 1997) and continued his accounting career in PwC Malaysia until 2002, specialising in financial services and derivatives. Whilst in PwC London, he also qualified from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (UK).
