The Report is prepared by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) on the integration of small modular reactors (SMR/AMR) into energy systems. It highlights that advanced small modular reactors (AMRs) show promise in terms of innovation and diversity of use, particularly those that produce heat at temperatures above 300°C. Furthermore, within AMRs themselves, there is a wide range of technological maturity, both for the reactor itself and for fuel production. Fuel is a crucial element for the success of these projects. For AMRs, the production of raw materials will require new plants (enrichment or reprocessing, depending on the type of reactor) and fuel fabrication, representing investments comparable to or greater than those.
