Haralambopoulos, Nick

Nick Haralambopoulos is a Director at Economic Consulting Associates (ECA) and Head of Regulation. An economist with nearly 30 years’ international experience, he advises regulators, governments, utilities and international institutions on electricity and gas network regulation, allowed revenues, tariff design, incentive frameworks and cost allocation.

His work has addressed network investment and charging, connection and demand risk, locational and flexibility signals, and the allocation of costs between utilities, large users and other consumers, issues central to integrating AI data centres into power systems. Nick has led or directed major price control and regulatory assignments in Great Britain, Greece, Northern Ireland, Oman, Malaysia and the Isle of Man, and earlier contributed to the development of competitive energy markets and modern regulatory frameworks in Australia. He brings a comparative regulatory-economic perspective to accommodating major new loads while protecting reliability, affordability, investment efficiency and decarbonisation objectives
