In this comprehensive course we delve into the foundational aspects of natural gas market regulation, where besides building a strong understanding of the fundamentals we will also examine how these fundamentals can be effectively applied in response to emerging challenges at all levels of market opening.

We are proud to have Dr. Sohbet Karbuz, Director of Natural Resources and Energy Security Division, Mediterranean Organisation for Energy and Climate (OMEC), who will serve as a Keynote Speaker on Day 0 on April 9!

    1KEYNOTE ADDRESS and INTRODUCTION Block
Mr. Sohbet Karbuz in his keynote speaker will address the evolution of global gas markets with focusing on current trends and challenges of these markets with special emphasis on supply and demand outlook.
    2MARKETS Block
The Markets Block will provide a deep dive into market trends, organized wholesale market functions, and operations, all within the regulatory context (including market monitoring and REMIT). Additionally, we will analyze the resilience of markets by drawing lessons from the recent energy crisis in Europe, exploring the market adjustments and regulatory remedies implemented during that time, with recommendations for emerging markets as well.
    3INFRASTRUCTURE Block
In the Infrastructure Block, we will offer a comprehensive overview of key elements of network access regulation (capacity allocation, congestion management, and balancing), using real case examples to illustrate the concepts. Basic tariff calculation principles will also be explored.
    4NATURAL GAS SECTOR TRANSITION Block
The course concludes with a forward-looking perspective in the Natural Gas Sector Transition Block, addressing the evolving landscape of the natural gas sector within the context of decarbonization. We will discuss key elements such as biomethane and hydrogen.
    5COMPLETION
5 CER credits will be awarded to those participants who successfully completed the course. Learn more about the ERRA Certified Energy Regulator Programme.
