ERRA is happy to announce the commencement of the “Energy Transition Initiative”, supporting Member Organizations with research on topics related to the energy transition challenge.
The project has been made possible thanks to the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority's (MEKH) generous financial conribution. „This is another important stage in the close professional cooperation between the two organizations and can contribute to the realization of the carbon neutrality goals” – said Mr. János Péter Horváth, the President of MEKH yesterday when signing the funding agreement.
ERRA’s Energy Transition Initiative highlights the growing significance of regulatory topics – such as the expanding role of renewable energy sources, flexibility, energy efficiency, storage, hydrogen, smart metering and e-mobility. The Initiative will foster bottom-to-top approach advice from regulators to respective governments and will bring a growing number of important and still unaddressed issues. It will map the understanding of regulators on energy transition, will analyse the work programs of regulators pertaining to energy transition directly or indirectly, and as a result it will identify the explicit and implicit roles attributed to or assumed by regulators. As a short-term output it shall discuss any practices of regulators with a view to tracking pros and cons. In the long-term it should equip member regulators with appropriate programs and projects and with drafting advisory documents that address challenges and actions.
ERRA uses this opportunity to thank MEKH for their continuous proactive support.
