The ERRA Regulatory Story of the Quarter’s 2023 Q2 edition covers the latest power sector development from North Macedonia being the establishment of the domestic day-ahead exchange platform that serves as the first step towards the integration of the Western Balkans energy market.
The article presents two interviews with key figures that were crucial for establishment of the exchange – Mr. Simon Shutinoski, Chief Executive Officer of the National Electricity Market Operator MEMO, which operates the exchange as well as Mr. Marko Bislimoski, President of the Energy and Water Services Regulatory Commission of North Macedonia, who approved the trading rules.
In the interviews, we ask them about the establishment process, early lessons learnt and ways forward for intraday trading and market coupling.
