Uzoma Achinanya is an engineer and economist with a major focus in the areas of utility business analysis, economic regulation, market design/operation and utility investment planning. He has worked on multiple assignments in the power sector in Nigeria and other parts of Africa for over 40 years, advising governments, regulators and industry in the electricity sector.

Following the commencement of the Nigeria Electricity Sector Reform, he was appointed the first Market Operator for the Industry.   He was also a member of the Presidential Task Force on Power in Nigeria where he served as a Senior Special Assistant to the President on Electric Power Distribution and Electricity Market Operations.

Uzoma continues to contribute to the development of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Market where he is working on several assignments including the development of rules and procedures for the surveillance of the regional market as well as the development of functional models for power system reliability and market operation for the regional market.

He is the Managing Consultant at Emtech Energy Services, Nigeria.
