Alexandra Diala is an energy policy and regulatory expert with more than a decade of experience in regulatory governance and European energy policy. She is currently an Expert within the Retail Electricity Market Regulation Service, Market Regulation Directorate, at the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), where she contributes to the development and implementation of regulatory framework governing the retail electricity market and consumer protection.

Her work focuses on the development of regulatory frameworks that support competitive electricity markets, consumer empowerment, and the effective implementation of EU energy legislation.

Over the course of her career, Alexandra has worked across regulatory, governmental, and European institutions, playing an active role in energy market reform, energy efficiency, security of supply, and the alignment of national legislation and regulatory frameworks with the evolving EU energy acquis. Her professional background includes positions within the Romanian Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economy, the European Parliament, and the Romanian Association for the Promotion of Energy Efficiency (ARPEE).

Actively engaged in European regulatory cooperation and policy dialogue, she has represented Romania in international working groups and policy forums, contributing to discussions on the implementation of EU energy legislation and the evolution of energy markets. Beyond her regulatory work, she is the author of numerous articles and opinion pieces on energy policy, market developments, and the European energy transition, contributing to the broader public debate on the future of the energy sector.

Alexandra is also a co-author of the ERRA Customer Protection Committee (CP COM) Report - “Regulation of Electricity Supply Contracts”, reflecting her involvement in advancing regulatory best practices and knowledge exchange across the ERRA community.

Alexandra holds a PhD in Economics from the Romanian Academy, focused on Romania’s positioning within the European Energy Strategy, and Master's degrees in International Relations, Diplomacy and European Studies from Ovidius University Constanța and the University of Salzburg.
