Responsibilities: The role includes regional coordination of power system planning, operations, environmental management and electricity trading for the 12 mainland member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Career Achievements: Over 30 years of experience in the power sector. Started career with Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) in Zimbabwe in 1988 and rose through the ranks to Business Development Director of the Transmission subsidiary up to 2007. Worked as a System Planning Advisor in EdM (Mozambique) in 2007 and as Senior Manager initially responsible for Planning and then Renewable Energy & System Integration in NamPower (Namibia) from 2008 to 2012. Worked from 2013 to 2016 as a consultant Power Engineer for African Development Bank on the Emergency Power Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project in Zimbabwe. Was Principal Director in the Ministry of Energy and Power Development of Zimbabwe from 2016 to 2017. Joined SAPP in December 2017.

Other experience has been in part time lecturing in electrical power systems M.Sc. program for University of Zimbabwe and examination moderation for the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and University of KwaZulu Natal (South Africa).

Education: Academically a holder of M.Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK; B.Sc. Engineering Honours in Electrical Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe and Diploma in Management from the Institute of Supervision & Management, UK. Professionally, a Registered Professional Engineer under the Zimbabwe Engineering Council; Fellow of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (FZweIE); Member of the USA-based Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE); Member of the UK-based Institution of Engineering & Technology (MIET) and Registered as Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) with the U.K. Engineering Council.
