In his career, Janez Kopac was 10 years Chairman of the Budget and Monetary Committee as a Member of the Slovenian Parliament, four years as Director of the Energy Directorate and also four years as Minister for Environment and Energy in Slovenia, and finally some 9 years as Director of the Energy Community Secretariat. An economist by origin, he also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Ljubljana. After finishing his third mandate as Director of the Energy Community Secretariat he works as an independent consultant working for EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for UNDP in Moldova, for Westminster Foundation for Democracy in Georgia, etc.
