The course focuses on the core responsibilities and activities of water utility regulatory authorities. Participants will learn about key economic concepts that guide the sector's operations, the challenges faced by sector participants, and the role of the regulator and various regulatory models. A central theme of the course is tariff setting and approval by the regulator, with theoretical lessons supplemented by case studies and a tariff-setting exercise. Sessions on licensing, performance benchmarking, and customer protection will provide a comprehensive understanding of regulatory functions.
