Christoph Riechmann is a Director in Frontier’s Energy Practice and also heads the Berlin and Cologne offices of Frontier.

Christoph provides regulation, competition, valuation, strategy advice and dispute support services to clients in North-West Europe. Christoph has over 25 years of consulting experience in the energy sector where he has advised a number of major European energy companies (Dong, EDF, EnBW, E.ON, Engie, RWE, Vattenfall, Verbund etc.), industry associations at the EU level (Business Europe) and in Germany  (BDEW), the Netherlands (EnergieNed), Norway (EBL/Energy Norway), Italy (Confindustria) and a variety of public offices, including the European Commission, and regulators in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Luxemburg (BNetzA, E-Control, ACM, Elcom and ILR, respectively) and the German and Dutch Ministries of Economic Affairs (BMWi and MinEZK).

Christoph Riechmann has been leading projects on energy market design and regulatory topics for over 25 years. His projects regularly involve representing clients vis-a-vis regulators and regulators vis-à-vis companies as well as providing expert opinion in public regulatory and court hearings. Christoph has advised various clients on decarbonising the gas sector and he has previously also worked extensively on mechanisms to support decarbonisation in the electricity sector and the promotion of renewable energies.

Before joining Frontier in 1999, Christoph Riechmann worked at the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) where he was involved in consultancy and research on reform and restructuring in network industries. He has numerous publications on these issues. Christoph holds a PhD in Economics from Cologne University.
