Alex Schmid is a Senior Consultant at Economic Consulting Associates. His work with ECA focuses on pricing and cost assessments for energy utilities. Recent and ongoing projects include supporting Malaysia’s Energy Commission through major reviews of multi-year electricity and gas tariffs, and a comprehensive review of the costs of electricity and heating supply in Kazakhstan and development of an appropriate methodology for future tariff resets. These are other assignments have led Alex to develop an excellent understanding of the application of

international best practice in tariff regulation, drawn from the UK, EU and Australia, to the more constrained conditions of emerging markets. Alex graduated from the London School of Economics.
