ERRA Gaseous Fuels Markets and Economic Regulation Committee presents its latest report on the emerging regulatory landscape for hydrogen markets: Hydrogen – Market Design and Regulatory Models. It summarizes the findings of a survey conducted by the GF COM across 16 member countries. Hydrogen is increasingly regarded as a key enabler of decarbonisation and sector integration. However, its development requires regulators to make early decisions with long-term structural implications amid significant uncertainty.

On June 5th, 2025 France experienced a special event of the power system. Despite being a normal working day, the day-ahead market recorded electricity prices in France equal to zero or slightly negative for a full row of 17 consecutive hours, marking an unprecedented record for the duration of this phenomenon, which signals a production surplus.

In Romania distribution networks are organized into eight geographical zones. Until 2021 there were eight major DSOs, each owning the distribution network in one of these zones and holding the distribution service concession for their respective zones. Currently, there are four DSOs: two smaller operators managing one distribution zone each and two larger operators managing three distribution zones each, following mergers of previous companies.

Grid systems that move away from power plants with synchronous spinning turbines need a strategy for addressing the loss of inertia. Better situational awareness can help, as can incentives to encourage the retention and production of inertia. This OIES paper looks at British and Nordic experiences and responses, and outlines what to watch for - so that the coming century, like the last one, is marked by a central role for reliable electric supply.
